Konstantinos Tsartsaris ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Τσαρτσαρής , born October 17, 1979 in Veria , Greece ) is a former Greek basketball player who was 2.09 m tall and played in the power forward position.

Career

Konstantinos Tsartsaris played handball at a young age, like most athletes in Veria, at the beginning of his sports career before he later switched to basketball . Tsartsaris began his basketball career in 1993 with GS Veria in the 4th Greek division. In 1995 he moved to local rival Filippos Verias (3rd division). In 1997 Konstantinos Tsartsaris went to Grindavík in Iceland, which earned him the nickname "Icelander" in his home country. After his cup victory in 1998, the Greek first division teams noticed him and after stints at Near Ist and the traditional Greek club Peristeri , Tsartsaris landed at the Greek top club Panathinaikos Athens in 2002, where he is still under contract today. With Panathinaikos, Tsartsaris was able to win the Greek championship ten times and the cup eight times, as well as the ULEB Euroleague in 2007, 2009 and 2011 .

On June 14, 2013 Tsartsaris announced his retirement from active basketball just a few days after the tenth championship title of his career.

National team

Tsartsaris made his debut with the Greek national team on June 19, 1998 in a game against Germany in Rhodes . Since then he has been an integral part of the team and reached with this, in addition to the European championship in 2005 in Serbia , the vice-world championship in 2006 at which Greece was able to defeat the US national team.
