history

Founded in 1971, Peristeri was one of the most important clubs in Greece in the 1990s. During this period, the club was permanently represented internationally and in the 2000/2001 season after the regular season even took second place in the A1 Ethniki . In 2000, the club was among the participants in the newly founded ULEB Euroleague and, with Alphonso Ford, provided the competition's most successful basket hunter. In addition, they reached second place after the main round in the 2000/01 season, tied with the defending champion and first Panathinaikos Athens . In the play-offs , however, they were eliminated in the semi-finals against Olympiacos . After another participation in the ULEB Euroleague (2001/2002) and participation in the FIBA EuroCup Challenge (2002/2003) and the FIBA EuroCup (2003/2004), due to bankruptcy, the forced relegation to the third Greek league (B Ethniki) followed. In 2007 the association was promoted to the A2 Ethniki. Between 2009 and 2013 Peristeri played in the top Greek league again.

Other important players from Peristeri's most successful times in the 1980s and 1990s included: a. the future NBA player Marko Jarić , the European champion and two-time Euroleague winner Konstantinos Tsartsaris as well as the long-time team captain Angelos Koronios , who for many years led the statistics for the most points scored in the A1 Ethniki.
