Andreas Glyniadakis ( Greek Ανδρέας Γλυνιαδάκης , born August 26, 1981 in Chania , Greece ) is a Greek basketball player . With his height of 2.16 m he plays on the position of the center .

Career

Europe

Glyniadakis began his career in the Chania youth team in Crete , Greece . In 1997 he finally moved to the Greek first division for the club Panathinaikos Athens , started his professional career here and won the Greek championship with the team in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. In the summer of 2001 he finally moved to Peristeri Athens, where he played two more seasons.

United States

With the 58th pick of the NBA Draft 2003 Glyniadakis was selected by the Detroit Pistons, but never played an NBA game for this club . He spent the 2005/2006 season with the Roanoke Dazzle in the NBA D-League . In 2006 he played in the preparatory games for the upcoming NBA season in the team of the Atlanta Hawks , but was removed from the squad before the first game of the season from the team. As a result, he moved to the NBA D-League to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, with whom he won the championship in 2006.

On November 5, 2006 Glyniadakis signed a contract with the Seattle SuperSonics , for which he ran up in a total of 13 games, in which he scored an average of 1.3 points. On January 4, 2007, however, the center was deleted from the squad, so he played again in the D-League for the Thunderbirds. In 2007 Glyniadakis tried for the last time unsuccessfully to make the leap into the NBA and played in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas for the Boston Celtics .

Back in Europe

In May 2007 Glyniadakis had signed a contract with Virtus Bologna in the Italian league to play the rest of the season there before he finally returned to Greece in September after his interlude in the NBA Summer League and signed a contract with AEK Athens . On October 1, however, he was deleted from the squad and moved to league rivals Athens, the club Marousi . After two seasons, Glyniadakis moved to the top Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus in 2009 , with whom he played 3 seasons in a row (2009-2012) in the highest European competition, the Euroleague . After winning the Euroleague 2012 Glyniadakis moved to Kazakhstan to BK Astana .

National team of Greece

Glyniadakis was a member of various junior national teams in Greece. For example, he took part in the U16 European Championship in 1997 and achieved third place with his team at the U18 European Championship in 1998. He also took part in the U18 World Championship with Greek junior teams in 1999 and the U20 European Championship in 2000.

Glyniadakis was later appointed to the Greek national basketball team and took part with her in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. At the 2009 European Basketball Championships in Poland, he won the bronze medal with his team.
