Argiris Pedoulakis ( Greek Αργύρης Πεδουλάκης ; born May 26, 1964 in Athens , Greece ) is a former Greek basketball player and coach.

Player career

Pedoulakis began his career in 1977 at GS Peristeri . In 1983 he made promotion to the first division with the club. In 1986 he moved to Panathinaikos Athens where he was under contract for four seasons before returning to Peristeri in 1993 and ending his playing career two years later in 1995.

Pedoulakis made his debut with the Greek national team on May 6, 1986 in a friendly against Czechoslovakia . In the 113-93 victory, he scored 7 points. With Greece Pedoulakis took part in the 1986 World Basketball Championship in Spain . His last of a total of 17 international matches, he gave on May 20, 1987 when he was able to achieve second place with Greece at the Acropolis tournament .

Coaching career

Pedoulakis began his coaching career in 1995 directly after his playing career at his club Peristeri, where he took the position of assistant coach at the side of the Serbian Dragan Sakota . In 1997 he finally took over the position of head coach and stayed with Peristeri Athens for four seasons until 1997. During this period he reached third place in the A1 Ethniki twice (2001 and 2003) and participated with Peristeri in the newly founded ULEB Euroleague in 2000 and 2001 . In 2004 he reached the Final Four tournament for the Greek Club Cup with Peristeri , where he finished third. In the summer of the same year Pedoulakis took over the coaching position at Makedonikos . With Makedonikos he took part in the ULEB Eurocup and led the team to the final of the competition in which the club had to admit defeat to Lietuvos rytas from Lithuania with a 74-78 defeat . In the following years Pedoulakis took over the coaching office for a number of clubs before he returned to Peristeri in 2010. In 2012 he moved to Panathinaikos Athens where he succeeded Željko Obradović . With Panathinaikos, Pedoulakis won both the Greek championship and the club cup twice before his contract was terminated in March 2014.
