Jeremiah Timotheus Massey ( Macedonian Џеремаја Мејси; born July 22, 1982 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American basketball player . In 2008 he received the citizenship of Macedonia . Its position is that of the power forward . In the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 Massey also played briefly for the German champions Brose Baskets.

Career

Jeremiah Massey began his career at Kansas State University with the Kansas State Wildcats, where he was named Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2004. He participated in the 2005 NBA Draft , but was ultimately not drafted. He was then obliged by the Greek club AE Larisa and ended the 2005/06 season as the best rebounder of A1 Ethniki . In the summer of 2006 he was signed by the Greek top club Aris from Thessaloniki , where he played for two seasons and was named player of the day twice in the ULEB Euroleague 2007/08 . In 2008 he finally moved to the Spanish ACB league for Real Madrid , where he lost his place in the squad after an unsuccessful season. In February 2010 he went to Xacobeo Blu: sens . In the following two seasons he played for the Russian club Lokomotive Kuban from Krasnodar and was successful in the 2011/12 Eurocup , in which he was twice elected player of the day. On the way to the quarter-finals, the German representatives Skyliners Frankfurt and Alba Berlin were beaten twice, only to be eliminated from the national competitor and eventual title winner BK Chimki . In the following season 2012/13 he was signed by the South Russian competitor Krasnye Krylja from Samara as a replacement for the injured Andre Smith . In December 2012 he switched to the German Basketball Bundesliga to the German champions and Euroleague Top 16 participants Brose Baskets Bamberg . However, Massey did not interpret the role intended for him as desired and after conflicts with the sporting management he switched to champions Champville SC in Lebanon before the start of the play-offs , where the former Bamberg player Reyshawn Terry already played.

After the 2013/14 season he played for various other clubs in Lebanon, Qatar, Argentina and Macedonia. Most recently, he was under contract with Quimsa in Argentina in 2017.

National team

Born in the United States, Jeremiah Massey took on Macedonian citizenship in 2008 and then played for the Macedonian national basketball team . With her he reached the qualification for the final round of the European Basketball Championship in 2009 and thus Macedonia's first participation in a European Championship finals since 1999 . Then he lost his place to the also naturalized Bo McCalebb , since only a naturalized player is eligible to play in the national team.
