Nikolaos "Nikos" Chatzivrettas ( Greek Νίκολαος "Νίκος" Χατζηβρέττας , * May 26, 1977 in Thessaloniki ) is a former Greek basketball player who plays shooting guard at a height of 1.96 m .
Career
Nikolaos Chatzivrettas began his career in 1994 with Aias Evosmou, a club from Thessaloniki, which at that time played in the third division of Greece. In 2002, after finishing the 2001/2002 season as the most successful basket hunter in the Greek A1 league , he moved to CSKA Moscow in Russia , where he won the Russian championship in his first season. 2003 changed Chatzivrettas to Panathinaikos and won six times in the following years the Greek championship , five times the Greek Cup and in 2007 and 2009, the ULEB Euro League .
National team
Chatzivrettas made his debut with the Greek national team on February 26, 2000 in a game against Poland in Kalamata . In the game that Greece won 78-60, Chatzivrettas scored two points. Since then he has been an integral part of this team and, in addition to several European and World Championships, also took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . Chatzivrettas celebrated his greatest success by winning the European Basketball Championship in 2005 . At the basketball world championship in 2006 he reached the final with Greece and won the silver medal there. After the end of the 2007 European Championships in Spain , where Greece finished fourth, Chatzivrettas declared, after a total of 116 matches and 683 points, at the age of 30, his retirement from the national team.
