Wavin 'Flag is a song by the Canadian - Somali musician K'naan and the American producer Ryan Tedder . It became known in Germany in early 2010 as the Coca-Cola advertising song for the 2010 World Cup . It was also covered by international music greats such as will.i.am and David Guetta .
Original and Celebration Mix
Wavin 'Flag was released as the third single from K'naan's album Troubadour . Wavin 'Flag achieved additional prominence in the Celebration Mix through the Coca-Cola advertising and the soundtrack for the official World Cup game. Wavin 'Flag entered the German single charts at number 4 on May 11, 2010 and secured number 1 for the first time on May 28, 2010 .

Benefit single
The benefit version of Wavin 'Flag in collaboration with Ryan Tedder was released exclusively in Canada on March 12, 2010 and debuted as the third single ever at number 1 on the Canadian Hot 100 . The benefit single has meanwhile been awarded triple platinum.
David Guetta and will.i.am
Due to the great success of the Wavin 'Flag versions, David Guetta and will.i.am , the front man of the Black Eyed Peas , decided to release a cover version of Wavin' Flag outside of Canada; this was published as the B-side to the Celebration Mix and on the maxi CD single. The lyrics for the will.i.am solo have been adapted, and K'naan also sings a different text in the international version. The modified music video shows the musicians in front of a large black flag. In addition, scenes from the original and the Celebration Mix were cut together.
