content
Dilemma is about the unfulfilled love between a man and a woman who is already in a committed relationship with someone else and has a child. Kelly Rowland sings in the chorus that she can't help it and always thinks of him, even when she is with her husband. Nelly raps the stanzas in the role of the suitor and says that he is just as crazy about her, but he does not want to destroy a happy family and will wait and be there if her husband treats her badly.
"No matter what I do (woo!)
All I think about is you
Even when I'm with my boo
Boy, you know I'm crazy over you"
production
Dilemma was produced by American music producers Antoine Macon and Ryan Bowser. They used a sample of the song Love, Need and Want You by the American soul singer Patti LaBelle .
Music video
In which to dilemma twisted music video led Benny Boom directed. It was filmed on August 19-21, 2002 on a backlot street in Universal Studios Hollywood . In it, then- NBA player Larry Hughes took on the role of Kelly Rowland's friend, while Patti LaBelle , whose song was sampled for Dilemma , plays her mother. The video has over 730 million views on YouTube (as of March 2020).
It is set in the fictional Afro-American town of Nellyville and at the beginning the song of the same name from the accompanying album is played as an intro while the neighborhood is shown. Then the plot is based on the text of Dilemma . Kelly Rowland and her mother are moving into the area and across from Nelly's house. He will immediately notice her, introduce himself to her and help with moving in. Then both cast dreamy looks at each other in front of their houses. A little later, however, Kelly's friend drives up in the car and picks her up. In the evening Kelly comes back alone in the car and asks Nelly to get in. They drive briefly through the suburbs, stop and dance intimately together on the street. Further scenes show Kelly, who is standing by the window in her house and looking down at Nelly, but cannot meet him. Towards the end of the video, they both see each other in a queue outside a cinema. Kelly, who is there with her boyfriend, looks jealously at Nelly, who is now with another woman. In the credits, however, Kelly and Nelly dance on the street again while her mother calls her into the house.
