Doo-Wops & Hooligans is the debut album by the US singer Bruno Mars . It was released on October 4, 2010 by the Atlantic and Elektra labels .
Background and development
The album Doo-Wops & Hooligans was announced in a press release on August 25, 2010, shortly after the debut EP It’s Better If You Don't Understand , which was released in May 2010. In an interview with MTV News, Mars stated that his EP had a positive effect on the album. The album cover for Doo-Wops & Hooligans was presented on August 30, 2010 on the Bruno Mars homepage. The track list for Doo-Wops & Hooligans was released on September 9, 2010 by the Atlantic Records label. Three of the four songs from the EP It's Better If You Don't Understand were taken over to the debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans .
Mars said of the album that he was a huge fan of the Doo Wop music genre because he grew up with the genre and it was special to him.
