biography

At the age of four, Barrett discovered a growing interest in music after buying a karaoke machine. In the following years he took part in various talent and singing competitions until an agent noticed him in 2001 and helped the young singer to a recording contract with J Records at the age of 15 .

The first single Just a Friend (a partial cover of the Biz Markie song of the same name ) developed into a hit in the USA and climbed to number 4 in the charts. The debut album reached the top 10 and was later even awarded gold .

After a two-year hiatus, Barrett finally reported back in 2004. With the release Let Me Love You he achieved a worldwide number 1 hit, and the second album Turning Point was able to surpass the success of its predecessor by far. Then three more singles were released, two of them exclusively in the USA .

At the end of 2007 the singer's third album, Go! , on which well-known producers like Timbaland , Scott Storch , Jermaine Dupri , Ne-Yo , Alicia Keys , The Neptunes , Rich Harrison and Akon worked.
