Fady Maalouf
Fady Mounir Maalouf ( Arabic فادي معلوف, DMG Fādī Maʿlūf ; * April 20, 1979 in Zahlé , Lebanon ) is a German - Lebanese pop singer . Maalouf became known as the finalist of the fifth season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar , which RTL broadcast from January to May 2008.
biography
Fady Maalouf was born in Lebanon during the civil war . He was injured twice in the face by shrapnel and had to undergo a series of operations as a result. He lived with his family alternately in a village near Bordeaux in France and in his home in northern Beirut .
Maalouf attended a Christian kindergarten and sang in the children's choir until he started singing at the age of 17. He then studied fashion design, did an internship with the Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab and then worked as an assistant in his Paris tailor shop.
When the political situation in Beirut worsened again in 2006, Maalouf came to Germany through his half-brother. First he settled in Hamburg , where he worked as a barista . Today he lives in Berlin, where the members of his band also live.
DSDS and first successes
In the summer of 2007 he applied as a candidate for the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar . In the motto shows, the audience voted him into the final, where he played against Thomas Godoj on May 17, 2008 . With a caller rate of 37.8%, Maalouf finally took second place.
The song Blessed , produced for him, was penned by Jörgen Elofsson and Peer Astrom (producer Alex Christensen ) and was released as a single on July 4, 2008 after signing a contract with Columbia Records . Maalouf's first album is also called Blessed and was released on July 25th. In November, the single Amazed was released, a cover version of the song of the same name by the country band Lonestar and a re-release of the Blessed album with partly new songs.
In March 2010 Maalouf's second album Into the Light was released with the single of the same name.
On September 15, 2017, the album Indigo was released , which was recorded at Fuseroom Studio Berlin.
