Lonestar is an American country band that made their breakthrough in the mid-1990s and scored several number 1 hits.
history
The forerunner of Lonestar was the group Texasee, which was founded in 1993 in Nashville by Texas musicians. Richie McDonald (born February 6, 1962) and Dean Sams (born August 3, 1966) originally planned to perform as a duo, but then took on more with John Rich (January 7, 1974) and Michael Britt (born June 15, 1966) Musicians added. A little later, the drummer Keech Rainwater (born January 24, 1963) completed the quintet.
After making a name for themselves through numerous live appearances in the scene, a record deal was signed with the BNA label in 1995. At the same time the name was changed to Lonestar. Their first single, Tequila Talkin ' , was already in the country top 10. They were named the best young band by the Academy of Country Music . The first number 1 hit was No News a year later. Their debut album, Lonestar , was equally successful and went gold.
After a few unsuccessful singles, their next number 1 hit came in 1997 with Come Cryin 'to Me . In 1998 John Rich left the group; he later made a career with the duo Big & Rich . After a few medium hits, Lonestar achieved their greatest success in 1998 with Amazed . The single stayed at number one on the country charts for eight weeks and also became a pop hit. Her album Lonely Grill , released in 1999, sold more than three million copies and went three times platinum . Her streak of success also survived the turn of the millennium. More number 1 hits were achieved at short intervals. In 2001 they were named Group of the Year by both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association .
In 2006 the album Mountains was released . Front singer Richie McDonald left the band in late 2007 to start a solo career. The new singer was Cody Collins. The first album with Collins was the Christmas album My Christmas List . The group's first single, with Collins as the singer, was Let Me Love You in 2008 . The band's next album, Party Heard Around the World , was released in April 2010.
On October 26, 2011 the band announced on their homepage that they have reunited with founding member and singer Richie McDonald and will go on tour in 2012 with the old line-up.
