history
In 1989, Richard Marx wrote the song that his wife Cynthia Rhodes inspired him to write: He was separated from her for three months and saw writing the song as the only way to show her how much he missed her. He had written the song within ten minutes, but didn't want to publish it because he thought it was too personal. He also thought the one ballad that was already on the album was sufficient. After the demo recording for the song happened to reach friends of Marx, who were able to persuade him, the song made it onto the album. Right Here Waiting was released worldwide on July 5, 1989. The pop ballad peaked at number 1 in the United States , Canada , Ireland , Australia , New Zealand and Poland .
Music video
Two music videos were made for the song, but both were banned due to sexual lewdness. In the first clip, which contains a 42-second sex scene, the plot was exclusively related to sexual intercourse. In the second video, Marx held hands with a man for a short time and one saw dancers in tight costumes.
