Lemon Ice is the name of the joint cover music project by singer Geeno and rapper Jay Low. The name leans, as in the TV magazine VIVA Live! announced to the name of the rapper Vanilla Ice . The duo became known in autumn 2006 with the single Stand By Me (original by Ben E. King ).
Career
Singer Geeno comes from Nuremberg . Under his real name Gunther Göbbel, he took part in the 2nd season of DSDS as a candidate in 2003/2004 . He founded the record label Utopic Music . He later performed live in clubs with rapper Jay Low.
When the music producer David Brandes became aware of the two, he recorded the single Stand by Me with them . This is a release from his own record company, Icezone Music . Brandes succeeded in placing the recording in the program of the German television station RTL II , which used it as background music for film previews. Giuliana Marino , the German Playmate of the Year 2005, was hired to shoot the accompanying video .
With the second single, the two musicians pursued their concept further and made another remake of a well-known hit with Only You (original by Yazoo ). In Finland the song reached number 6 on the charts. On August 3, 2007, the third single Girl You Know It's True (original by Numarx , made famous by Milli Vanilli ) was released and reached number 26 in the German single charts. A short time later the ballad Right Here Waiting (original by Richard Marx ) followed, which reached the 23rd place.
After the attempted return to the chart with the song Hey Lady in 2009 was unsuccessful, the duo broke up.
After the separation, Göbbel switched to DJing. In 2016 he had a second chart hit as Geeno Smith with a new version of Stand by Me .
