The Otoyol 51 motorway ( Turkish Adana –Mersin Otoyolu , O-51 for short ) connects the cities of Adana and Mersin in Turkey . The motorway is three lanes on both sides. Motorway feeder roads with two lanes in each direction lead to the Adana, Tarsus and Mersin junctions.
Between 1981 and 1993 the part between Tarsus was built together with the Otoyol 21 . From 1992 the road was built in the west to Mersin, from 1998 in the east to Adana to Otoyol 50 , the expansion has been completed since 2000.
In the future, the motorway is to be extended to Silifke .
