The Otoyol 3 motorway ( Avrupa Otoyolu in Turkish , O-3 for short ) is a motorway that connects the cities of Istanbul and Edirne . 51 kilometers of the motorway are two-lane on both sides, the remaining 180 kilometers are three-lane on both sides. The road, built from 1987 to 1997, connects to the O-1 and O-2 in Istanbul and ends at the Kapitan Andreewo-Kapıkule border crossing . Motorway feeders with two lanes in each direction lead to the Edirne Doğu, Lüleburgaz, Kinalı, Selimpaşa, Kumburgaz and Avcılar junctions.
