The Avtomagistrala "Mariza" or Avtomagistrala A4 ( Bulgarian Автомагистрала А4 "Марица" Avtomagistrala A4 Maritsa ) is a motorway in southern Bulgaria . It branches off the Sofia - Burgas motorway to the south and extends to the Kapitan Andreewo-Kapıkule border crossing .

The highway runs along the Maritsa river and bears its name. The length is 117 km and is part of the European route 80 .

Sections in operation

The motorway was completed in October 2015. From Chaskowo / Dimitrovgrad, the section to Swilengrad has been in operation since May 28, 2015 over a length of 62.8 km. The 31 km long section from Charmanli to Ljubimez went into operation in October 2010. The bypass around the village of Kapitan Andreewo went into operation in August 2014. The second lane of the Swilengrad bypass was opened on June 7, 2015. The section from Swilengrad to the Kapitan Andreewo-Kapikule border crossing is also already in operation. The remaining 43 km long section from Cipran to Chaskowo / Dimitrovgrad was opened to traffic in October 2015.
