Lyubimets ( Bulgarian Любимец ) is a Bulgarian town in Haskovo Province . In December 2011, the city had a population of around 7200 inhabitants.

The Maritsa River flows to the east of the city .

There is a prison camp for illegal refugees near the entrance to the village .

The city has given its name to the Ljubimez Nunatak on Alexander I Island in Antarctica since 2017 .
