List of districts in Bulgaria
The Bulgarian central state has consisted of 28 administrative districts ( oblasts ) since 1999 . Each county administrator is usually appointed by the government for a period of 4 years. The oblasts in Bulgaria are as follows:

- Dobrich (Добричка)
- Gabrovo (Габровска)
- Yambol (Ямболска)
- Kardzhali (Кърджалийска)

- Montana (Монтанска)
- Pazardzhik (Пазарджикска)
- Pernik (Пернишка)
- Pleven (Плевенска)
- Plovdiv (Пловдивска)

Former oblasts
From 1959 to 1987 Bulgaria was divided into the same geographical administrative units - but these were Okruge .
From 1987 to 1999 three to four okrug were combined to form oblasts as a superordinate administrative unit:
- Burgas (Burgas, Sliven, Yambol)
- Haskovo (Kardzhali, Stara Sagora, Haskowo)
- Lovetsch (Gabrovo, Lovetsch, Plewen, Veliki Tarnowo)
- Plovdiv (Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan)
- Razgrad Russian (Razgrad, Russe, Silistra, Targovishte)
- Sofia (city)
- Sofia region (Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pernik, Sofia region)
- Varna (Varna, Dlobritsch, Shumen)
- Montana (Widin, Wraza, Montana)
