The Kardzhali Oblast ( Bulgarian Област Кърджали , Turkish Kırcaali ili ) is an administrative unit in southern Bulgaria . The largest city in the region is Kardzhali of the same name . The oblast borders in the east on the Oblast Haskowo , in the west on the Oblast Smoljan , in the north on the Oblast Plovdiv and in the south on Greece .
