The Turkish motorway Otoyol 53 ( Turkish Ceyhan - İskenderun Otoyolu , O-53 for short ) connects the Otoyol 52 with İskenderun . The motorway is three lanes on both sides. A motorway slip road with two lanes in each direction leads to the Şekerek junction.

An extension to Antakya is being planned, and the road is to be connected to the Syrian motorway network in the direction of Aleppo .
