Numarx was an American hip hop group or DJ crew from Baltimore , Maryland . They made the hit single Girl You Know It's True , which was later recorded by Milli Vanilli .

history

DJ Spen, shaped by the first wave of hip-hop music, began to put together a crew in the early 1980s, which he named Numarx. There was no fixed line-up at the beginning, sometimes the crew performed with eight turntables . Later, in addition to DJ Spen, Junie Jam, Wanye and Kool Rod were a permanent fixture. At first it was just a pure DJ crew until Kool Rod decided to act as MC , and KG (Kevin Liles) joined the band. Buss It was released in 1984 as a single on the independent label KMA Records.

In 1987 the two singles Girl You Know It's True and Rhymes So Def were released via Studio Records. Girl You Know It's True was covered by Milli Vanilli a year later and became a world hit.

Numarx released their debut album Our Time Has Come in 1988 on Studio Records. The album was released in Europe through ZYX Records , but remained largely commercially unsuccessful.

This was followed by the two self-produced singles Do It Good (1990) and Do You Wanna (1991) before the crew broke up.

DJ Spen later made a name for himself as a house DJ , while Kevin Liles later became President of Def American .
