Joel Wicki

Joel Wicki (born February 20, 1997 ) is a Swiss wrestler from Sörenberg . His greatest successes include winning the Central Switzerland Wrestling and Alpine Festival in 2018 as well as the Bergkranz Festival victories on the Rigi , twice on the Stoos and on the Schwarzsee . In 2019 he was first crowned at the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Zug .

Life

After compulsory schooling, Wicki completed an apprenticeship as a construction machinery mechanic. He works 60 to 80% in his job. In addition to training and competitions, he regularly helps relatives on an alp. He lives in his parents' house in Flühli , Sörenberg district.

Swing

Wicki swings for the Entlebuch wrestling association. After a successful time as a young wrestler, including winning the Swiss Junior Wrestling Day in 2012, he celebrated his first wreath victory at the Schwarzsee-Schwinget in 2015. On Schwägalp -Schwinget 2016 Wicki broke the fibula and thus missed the Federal Wrestling Festival in Estavayer-le-Lac and the rest of the season 2016. After this lengthy injury break he graduated from the Spitzensportler- recruit school , preparing it intensively for his athletic return to the coming season. In 2017, Wicki established itself with various successes in the field of top Swiss wrestlers. So far (March 2020) he has won 11 wreath festivals and a total of 44 wreaths, including 1 federal, 20 cantonal, 9 sub-association and 14 mountain wreaths.

His highlights so far include two victories in the Stoos-Schwinget in 2017 and 2019. At the Central Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival 2019, he fought for second place. At the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival 2019 in Zug, he led before the final course , in which he was defeated by Christian Stucki . He reached rank 1b tied with Stucki and was thus first crowned .

Wicki measures 183 cm and weighs 110 kg. In the sawdust it is particularly impressive with its explosive short pull, but also with strong groundwork.

In 2019, Wicki took first place in the official annual points list of the Swiss Federal Wrestling Association .
