The seventh season of the German singing casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast from January 6 to April 17, 2010 on the RTL television program.
The seventh season started with the jury consisting again of Dieter Bohlen , Nina Eichinger and Volker Neumüller . The winner of the seventh season was Mehrzad Marashi , although the runner-up Menowin Fröhlich had won every previous theme show.
In the target group , the season reached an average of 4.24 million viewers, which corresponds to a 32.71% market share. Overall, it reached an average of 6.51 million viewers (market share 19.86%). The audience numbers at the auditions were ahead of those of the theme shows. The final reached the highest total number of viewers of all episodes; it was the most successful episode since the finale of the first season and reached almost two million viewers more than the finale of the previous season.

The first live show of the seventh season took place on February 13, 2010. The original plan was for the seven participants with the most calls to come directly to the motto shows and three more to be selected by the jury. However, the jury decided to let the ten candidates with the most caller votes pass.

Fourth theme show
The fourth motto show on March 13, 2010 was themed The big 80s party . Each candidate sang a song dating from 1980–1989. As the opening song, the remaining seven candidates sang Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go , which also comes from the 80s and was by Wham! was sung.
Ines Redjeb and Manuel Hoffmann were named by all three jury members as the worst candidates of the evening. The four candidates with the lowest number of callers were Manuel Hoffmann and Ines Redjeb, along with Kim Debkowski and Helmut Orosz. Thomas Karaoglan, Hasso Menowin Fröhlich and Mehrzad Marashi received the most number of calls.
In agreement with the assessment of the jury, Marco Schreyl announced at 11:59 p.m. that Ines Redjeb had to leave the seventh season of DSDS. Thus Kim Debkowski was the last female participant.

Fifth theme show
The fifth theme show took place on March 20, 2010. Each candidate entered the competition with two songs. The motto was German vs. English ; in the first run each candidate sang a German title and in the second run an English one. The word vs. was a nod to the fact that there was a boxing match between Wladimir Klitschko and Eddie Chambers between the show and the decision .
Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams was the joint opening song of the remaining six candidates. After everyone sang their first song, the phone lines were released.
All jury members agreed that Helmut Orosz was the worst candidate that evening.
The three candidates with the lowest number of callers were Thomas Karaoglan, Helmut Orosz and Manuel Hoffmann. On March 21, 2010 at 12:41 am, Marco Schreyl announced that Manuel Hoffmann had left.
One hour after the end of the program, Helmut Orosz was excluded from the competition for drug use. Manuel Hoffmann took his place.

Sixth theme show
The sixth motto show took place on March 27, 2010 and had the motto Ballermann and Ballads . In the first run, each candidate sang a party hit and in the second run a soulful ballad.
Manuel Hoffmann, who was eliminated in the last motto show, was back in the race instead of the disqualified Helmut Orosz.
At the opening of the candidates sang the Ballermann hit Hey Baby by DJ Ötzi .
The three participants with the lowest number of callers were Thomas Karaoglan, Manuel Hoffmann and Kim Debkowski.
On March 28, 2010 at 12:06 am, Marco Schreyl announced that Thomas Karaoglan had received the fewest calls and had left.

Seventh theme show
The seventh theme show took place on April 3, 2010. The motto was Alt vs. New . In the first round the candidates sang a title from the last five years and in the second round a slightly older title. At the beginning, all competitors sang the title Crying at the Discoteque by Alcazar together .
The jury named Kim Debkowski because of her first song and Menowin Fröhlich because of his behavior during the week as the shaky candidate of the evening.
After voting by the callers, Mehrzad Marashi, Menowin Fröhlich and Manuel Hoffmann were elected to the semi-finals of the seventh season. At 11:30 p.m. Marco Schreyl announced that Kim Debkowski had left. She was the season seven best female contestant.

Semifinals
Manuel Hoffmann, Mehrzad Marashi and Menowin Fröhlich fought for tickets for the upcoming final on April 10th. For the first time this season, each candidate sang three songs. The mottos of the three rounds were boy band songs , personal music heroes and No. 1 hits .
It is worth mentioning that after his song I know nothing (which is as beautiful as you) , Mehrzad Marashi proposed to his partner and she consented.
After all candidates had sung their three songs, Mark Medlock , the winner of the fourth season, presented his new song Real Love .
At 11:45 p.m. Marco Schreyl announced that Manuel Hoffmann had left again. Mehrzad Marashi and Menowin Fröhlich were in the final.

On April 17th, Menowin Fröhlich and Mehrzad Marashi faced each other in the final. In the first round, the opponents sang a song of their choice, then a song that they had already sung in a live show and in the third round everyone sang the winning song Don't Believe .
Since jury member Nina Eichinger's flight to the show was canceled due to the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull , she was represented by Sylvie van der Vaart . Van der Vaart was already on a jury for Das Supertalent with Dieter Bohlen .
The top 10 candidates (except Helmut Orosz) who had already left the band sang I Gotta Feeling from the Black Eyed Peas as the opening song .
The jury unanimously named Menowin Fröhlich as a favorite.
Shortly before the decision, Marashi and Fröhlich sang the song Sweat (A La La La La Long) by Inner Circle together . Both had successfully sung this song as a duet in the recall.
Mehrzad Marashi was the winner of the seventh season and thus a superstar in 2010 .
After the show, Frauke Ludowig hosted , as in previous years, Explosiv Spezial - The Night of Superstars .
