Thomas Karaoglan (born March 20, 1993 in Duisburg ) is a German pop singer of Armenian descent who became known through the music casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar .

Life

The singer, who grew up in the Wedau district of Duisburg , took part in the seventh season of the music casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar broadcast on the TV station RTL in 2010 and thus became known to a wider audience for the first time. There he reached fifth place and was nicknamed “Checker” by jury member Dieter Bohlen , under which he later brought his music to the market.

Although he was not one of the finalists at Deutschland sucht den Superstar , he released his first single three months after winner Mehrzad Marashi as the second participant of the season. It was called Checker, the Executor and reached number 18 in the German single charts .

In 2011, Karaoglan took part in the fourth season of the television dance show Let's Dance on the side of Sarah Latton , reaching third place. On April 15, 2011, he released his second single, Diskoking , which, however, did not reach the chart.

From August to September 2011 Karaoglan was a participant in the second season of the reality format Die Alm , which was broadcast on the German private broadcaster ProSieben . He is under contract with the music label Ariola .
