Don't Believe is a pop song released in May 2010 by Mehrzad Marashi , the winner of the seventh season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar . The piece was written by Dieter Bohlen .

Don't Believe was originally supposed to be released as the second single by the winner of the sixth DSDS season Daniel Schuhmacher , but Bohlen no longer believed in his continued success and ended the collaboration.
For the finale of the seventh Deutschland-sucht-den-Superstar season 2010, the song was finally determined to be the winning song. It was sung three times during the show by Mehrzad Marashi and his final opponent Menowin Fröhlich . With 56.4 percent of the votes, Marashi won the season and was thus allowed to publish the title.
The following week Don't Believe entered the German charts at number one. On websites like Facebook or StudiVZ , some users wanted to prevent this song from reaching number one in the German single charts. It was suggested to buy the song Boomerang from Blümchen . Others called for the song Tribute by Tenacious D to be put back on the charts. However, since the band was also under contract with Sony, Sony did not register the song again. So it was called to download the song Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin , to which the song Tribute refers. These actions were unsuccessful, but led to quite high chart positions of the songs mentioned: Boomerang made it to number seven, Stairway to Heaven was able to reach number 15.
A few days later, allegations were raised that Don't Believe was a plagiarism of Leona Lewis ' Bleeding Love . However, both artists were under contract with Sony , so that assumed legal consequences could be regulated internally. The song sold 48,000 digital copies in 48 hours. After five days, it had been downloaded more than 100,000 times.
Music video
The music video for Don't Believe was filmed eight days after the win . In the video, Marashi walks through streets in New York City in a green outfit , including standing on the Brooklyn Bridge . During the chorus , Marashi stands on a flat roof in a red suit, with the New York skyline behind him .
