Bernd Monheim (born May 15, 1933 in Berlin ; † June 7, 2010 ) was a German industrial manager.

Career

The great grandson of the chocolate manufacturer Leonard Monheim grew up in Berlin and came to Aachen after the Second World War. After graduating from the Einhard-Gymnasium , he studied business administration at the University of Munich from 1954 and received his doctorate in 1959 on the subject of vertical price fixing, illustrated using the example of the chocolate market .

In 1960 he joined the family company Leonard Monheim KG, founded by his great-grandfather, as a personally liable partner and managing director . In 1979 he became a board member there and was a member of the board until the group was partially sold to Suchard. From 1987 to 1998 he was a member of the management team at Jacobs Suchard.

In addition to his entrepreneurial activity, Monheim supported the interests of the German confectionery industry in various functions. In 1963 he was elected to the board of the Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry , where he was chairman of the board of directors for the chocolate, chocolate products and cocoa division from 1971 to 1995 and general chairman from 1989 to 1998. From 1996 to 2009 he was Chairman of the Board of the German Cocoa and Chocolate Industry Foundation. From 1989 to 2007 he was chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Economic Sciences at RWTH Aachen University .

In addition, Bernd Monheim had been a member of Club Aachener Casino since 1960 , which he also headed as president from 1980 to 1984. In addition, the former active rider was a member and long-term vice-president of the Aachen-Laurensberger racing club . Bernd Monheim, found his final resting place in the Waldfriedhof Aachen .

His cousin Heiner Monheim , who is also a great-grandson of Leonard Monheim , is a well-known German transport scientist .
