A Fine Frenzy (born December 23, 1984 in Seattle , Washington ; real name Alison Loren Sudol , formerly Alison Monro ) is an American singer , pianist and actress .

The words "A Fine Frenzy" come from the Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare : Theseus, 5th act, 1st scene - "The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling, Doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven" (The poet Eye, rolling in beautiful madness, flashes up to the sky, flashes down to the earth).

biography

The artist, who grew up in Los Angeles , first drew attention to herself on American television. There she performed several songs in various series such as u. a. Dr. House , How I Met Your Mother, and CSI: NY below.

One setback in her life was the divorce of her parents, who were acting teachers by profession, when she was five years old. From then on she developed a passion for the music of Elton John and Ella Fitzgerald and began to write books through her interest in literature. An important skill that A Fine Frenzy also uses when writing lyrics. "Every text has its rhythm, a special meter and other properties that can be translated wonderfully into music," explains the singer. In the past she continued to take inspiration from British bands such as Radiohead and Keane . She began to write her own lyrics at an early age, learned the piano on her own and composed her first own songs so that she could overcome the pain of her parents' separation. A manager of the music label EMI , who was convinced by one of her short demo tapes, finally decided to sign the musician.

Music career

She had her first successes, tour experience and soundtrack sales for films (2002) as blonde Alison Monro with her band Monro. In 2006, she was the opening act of the Stooges on tour . On July 17, 2007 she presented her debut album One Cell in the Sea . It reached number 91 on the US Billboard charts . It was released in Germany on February 8, 2008. The successor Bomb in a Birdcage was released in August 2009. On October 9, 2012, the third studio album with the title Pines was released .
