Klaus location
Klaus Lage (born June 16, 1950 in Soltau ) is a German musician . He gained popularity mainly through the song 1000 und 1 Nacht (Zoom!) By the Klaus-Lage-Band.
life and work
Klaus Lage spent his childhood in Soltau before the family moved to Düsseldorf . There he attended the Schloss-Gymnasium Benrath . The family later moved back to Soltau. He began training as a wholesale merchant without finishing it. Since Klaus Lage found his small hometown to be cramped compared to Düsseldorf, he went to Berlin at the age of twenty and worked as an educator and social worker in a children's home.
In the 1970s he first made a name for himself with the Berlin Rock Ensemble (BRE). The quintet in the regular line-up Klaus Lage (vocals, guitar), Gregor Schaetz (guitar, vocals), Ralph Billmann (keyboard), Axel Crémer (bass) and Martin Crémer (drums) performed throughout Germany. The director Ulli Herzog shot two reports about the band on behalf of the SFB . In 1978, Lage's first single was released, Alle ham's gesch accomplished except for me (B-side: Job-Rock ). His first albums , Musikmaschine (1980) and Positiv (1982), followed. The latter became Come, hold me firmly decoupled (B-side: fish without a bike ).
The breakthrough came with the third album, Stadtstreicher (1983), on which Lages' first big hit Mit mein Augen was released. The album was Wolf Maahn produced and represents the beginning of a lasting cooperation over several years. Also, the following album was quite, at least partially produced the next album of Maahn.
In 1984 the album sweat pearls was released . The song 1000 und 1 Nacht (Zoom!) , Which was written by Diether Dehm and composed by Göran Walger, keyboard player of the Klaus Lage Band, was decoupled from the album and made Lage well known as a German-speaking rock interpreter. Shortly after the title was again at home and also with the assistance of the then Social Democratic and today left written -Politikers Dehm and Wolf Maahn Monopoli decoupled.
Lage also celebrated success with other songs, such as Faust auf Faust (Schimanski) from the 1985 album Heße Jungs . Faust on Faust was the theme song of the first Schimanski movie, Tooth for a Tooth , with Götz George as the main actor. An English version of this, Fists of Steel , was also published.
The title track Now That You're Gone for the second Schimanski movie, Zabou , was also a joint composition by Klaus Lage and Dehm, sung by Joe Cocker . In this film, Lage also took on a small role as a cook.
Since 1995, Lage has played the leading role in the musical Stars written by Diether Dehm . Lage sang the German lyrics to the score for the animated film Toy Story composed by Randy Newman .
Since 1991 Lage has been on the road with various lineups, since 2002 also with his keyboardist Bo Heart , and has realized other projects: First he toured Germany with his album Live for two from 2002 to 2005. From the end of October 2006 Klaus Lage appeared together with Bo Heart and Lothar Altwell at several concerts under the title of his album Zug um Zug . On this tour, well-known and new songs could be heard in unusual arrangements. In addition to 1000 and 1 night (zoom!) A cappella there were also songs by Pete Seeger to be heard. In 2007, four of the albums from 1985 to 1991 were remastered with bonus tracks.
In 2008 “ Beste Lage” was released, a 2-CD best-of album with all the great successes and current titles. In addition, the new album Nah und Wicht was released on September 26th and presented live by Klaus Lage and his band at around 20 concerts. The first single from the new album was called Immer .
In 2010, Lage returned to his roots as a songwriter and performed solo for the first time in over 30 years. Due to the positive response, he continued the tour in 2011 and published a live recording.
In February 2011 the studio album Der Moment was also released , which he presented live at several concerts in the spring - again with a band. In autumn 2013 a solo tour under the name Zeitreisen followed , which he continued in spring 2014.
Lage has lived in Bremen since 2008 . Since 2014 he has been a volunteer boatman for the Seenotretter ( German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People ). In this function, Klaus Lage published his single Volle Kraft beforehand in November 2014 , which is dedicated to the DGzRS or their work.
