Program content

The program consists of 80% music. The word share of 20% is made up of sports information and information broadcasts (weather, traffic, news and info minutes). According to their own statements, the target group consists primarily of men between the ages of 30 and 59.

A distinction must be made between recurring identifications such as local frequency information, place names or other recurring information and constantly updated editorial content such as local news , weather and traffic information or event information . The regional news is broadcast every half hour or hour, depending on the time of day. News from Germany and around the world are pre-produced abroad and updated every hour. Sports reports and the “topic of the day” are broadcast locally.

Rockland Radio's partner stations with identical music programs are Radio 21 in Lower Saxony and Antenne Sylt in Schleswig-Holstein . The station's program is produced entirely in Garbsen (Lower Saxony) and Mainz. Through the interconnection of Radio 21, Rockland Radio and Antenne Sylt, the station name is never announced by the moderator, only regionally different jingles are played. The weather, traffic information, regional contributions and regional news are also different.

Since August 1st, 1998 Rockland Radio has been broadcasting on VHF frequencies in Rhineland-Palatinate, partly taken over by Energy Rheinland-Pfalz and Radio Donnersberg . Rockland Radio lost 6 smaller frequencies in 2008 through the invitation to tender and the subsequent reassignment of frequencies, but continues to broadcast in the metropolitan areas of Rheinhessen , the Rhine-Neckar area , Koblenz and Trier .

For 10 years, the station was based in studios in a converted shoe factory, the Neuffer complex , in Pirmasens . However, the Pirmasens location was given up in May 2008 and relocated to Mainz (previously only regional studio), as the station had not received another license for the Pirmasens frequency 88.4. Instead, this frequency was taken over by the newly founded Radio Pirmasens .

In Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and Bad Kreuznach there was a Rockland Café, which was not operated by the broadcaster. There was only a close cooperation here.

Controversy

In May 2018, an injunction was issued against Radio RocklandPfalz GmbH & Co.KG to continue to broadcast the programs of the competitors bigFM , RPR1 and Deutschlandradio via four VHF antennas in the greater Trier area . This was preceded by a dispute about excessive cost claims for the use of the antennas.

Rockland TV

Radio TV, which was launched in early 2016, also broadcasts a video program in addition to the station's audio signal, which replaces the songs on the radio with the corresponding music videos, shows presenters with studio cameras and offers special images for news, weather and traffic services. With Radio TV, RADIO 21 and Rockland Radio managing director Steffen Müller are pursuing the goal of being present with a video offering on television, computers and tablets with radio programs. Rockland TV is available 24 hours a day from the station website.

Internet

In addition to the website, Rockland Radio is also active on social networks such as Facebook , YouTube and Twitter .
