The Lower Saxony State Media Authority (NLM), based in Hanover, has the task of developing and promoting private broadcasting .
description
As an institution under public law , the NLM licenses private radio and television providers and oversees their programs. Since 2003 she has also supervised the compliance with the protection of minors at the private providers of telemedia in Lower Saxony. The NLM promotes citizens' broadcasting , is involved in the digitization of broadcast technology and initiates and supports projects to strengthen media skills and research projects. It awards the Lower Saxony Media Prize every year .
The NLM has two organs with the director and the assembly. The assembly consists of 38 members who are delegated by the parties represented in the state parliament and the socially relevant groups in accordance with Section 39 of the Lower Saxony Media Act (NMedienG).
The NLM is a member of the working group of the state media authorities (die medienanstalten).
