Radio Nordseewelle is a local radio station for East Friesland , Friesland and Wilhelmshaven that began broadcasting on April 30, 2015 at 12 noon. The broadcast is from the East Frisian city of Norden . The station's managing director is Maik Neudorf. The program is licensed by the Lower Saxony State Media Authority. According to the NLM's GfK coverage study published in 2016, Radio Nordseewelle is the most successful local broadcaster in the region and the most successful commercial local radio in all of Lower Saxony. The first song that was played after it started broadcasting was Nordic by Nature by Fettes Brot .

history

On September 24, 2013, the Lower Saxony State Media Authority published an announcement in which free VHF transmission frequencies in the East Frisian Islands / coastal strip region were advertised for a commercial local radio in East Frisia . Two applications were received in response to the tender. Applicants were Radio Nordseewelle GmbH & Co KG and Radio SWS Sturmwellensender GmbH, which already operates an event radio on the island of Norderney. On December 18, 2013, the local VHF frequencies Radio Nordseewelle were awarded. On September 21, 2016, Radio Nordseewelle was awarded the second broadcasting area Wilhelmshaven / Jever / Friesland. In the NLM meeting on November 29, 2017, the transmitter was then awarded the third transmission area Aurich / Emden / Leer.

News from East Frisia, Friesland and Wilhelmshaven are sent hourly. In addition, Radio Nordseewelle broadcasts the current coastal weather with the current tides twice an hour. The shareholders of Radio Nordseewelle are ZGO Zeitungsgruppe Ostfriesland GmbH from Leer (46.4%), TBD Technische Baudienstleistungen GmbH & Co. KG from Friedeburg (25.2%), lawyer Frank Wilken from Leer (10.2%), Holger Franz from Leer (7.5%), Joachim Klemm from Leer (5.8%) and the managing director Maik Neudorf (4.9%). The Ostfriesland newspaper group publishes the Ostfriesen-Zeitung (Leer), the Ostfriesische Nachrichten (Aurich) and the General-Anzeiger ( Rhauderfehn ).
