With RTL Regional regional news programs in the program are collectively RTL Television called. The program name actually used differs depending on the broadcast area. The programs have always been broadcast at 6 p.m.

expenditure

Today there are four regional magazines that operate under the RTL logo:

In Bavaria there is no national daily regional program on RTL; instead, depending on the region, the regional magazine is broadcast by one of the 16 regional Bavarian television stations (e.g. münchen.tv or Franken Fernsehen ) at 6 p.m. In Munich , however, there existed until 2005 a window program RTL Munich Live that was independent of the regional broadcaster tv.münchen at the time and only licensed for the RTL window .

Window regulations for regional broadcasters like in Bavaria also apply in the parts of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate . From 1986 to July 31, 2017, the Rhein-Neckar Fernsehen (RNF) broadcast "RNF Life". In 2016, the realignment of the RTL regional window, which has an order volume of 1.4 million euros, was scheduled. In addition to RNF, Zone 7 GmbH & Co. KG from Ludwigsburg also applied. The responsible committees could not agree: Rhineland-Palatinate preferred zone 7 and in Baden-Württemberg the committees did not come to an amicable solution. Therefore, RNF and Zone 7 were commissioned to find a common solution. At the end of March, shortly before the April 1st award deadline, RNF withdrew its application to avoid lengthy lawsuits. In return, it received an order from Zone 7 to continue production of the regional window until July 31, 2017. Zone 7 has been broadcasting the new window program under the name "RON TV" since August 1st, 2017. To this end, the editorial team was moved from Ludwigsburg to Mannheim , which has been supplying the national programs of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland with news items since 2008 . There was considerable interference on the part of politics in the context of the licensing. Although the state media authorities from Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Wuerttemberg are supposed to make a non-state and politically independent decision, Mannheim's Lord Mayor Peter Kurz turned to Prime Minister Malu Dreyer and Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann , so that they would campaign for a license to be granted to the RNF and a License was not granted to competitor Zone 7. MPs from the SPD and the Greens tried to exert direct influence on the broadcasting council of the State Office for Communication , which may have succeeded. However, no agreements between the RNF and politicians came to light.

In the past, other independent TV stations had such a window on RTL, such as the TV from Berlin (FAB), TVAL in Angermünde in Brandenburg and the Saxon channels Dresden TV , Leipzig TV and Chemnitz TV .

Only in Bavaria there is also a nationwide window program on RTL at the weekend. On Saturdays from 5.45 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. TV Bayern Live broadcasts there . At the beginning of 2015, this window was moved from the long-term broadcasting slot on Sunday to Saturday at the same time. Before November 2009, the Bayern-Journal could be received on the Sunday slot , which also broadcast a window program on Sat.1 on Saturdays .

History of regional programs on RTL

With the granting of terrestrial broadcast frequencies to the newly created private broadcasters , in some countries the requirement was linked to broadcast a regional magazine for the respective country (analogous to the regional news programs that were broadcast at the time in the evening program of the first ). These regional magazines, which were created at that time, are produced in the form of window programs with an independent license by various production companies.

Initially, the 45-minute regional programs had their own names. There was the magazine Hamburg Schlag 6 , which was launched in May 1988, and the magazine Kiek in, which was launched later, for Schleswig-Holstein, point 6 for Lower Saxony and Bremen, Tele West for North Rhine-Westphalia and the Hessen Report . From 1990 the names were standardized and from then on it was called RTL Nord Live (initially in three, later two editions), RTL West Live and RTL Hessen Live . At that time, mostly a series was broadcast via satellite and in areas without regional programs, between January 1992 and September 1993 the program Elf 99 , which was taken over by GDR television , was broadcast . From 1995 there was a national national magazine called Guten Abend RTL . The regional magazines, which have now been shortened to 30 minutes, were specifically adapted to this and were also called Guten Abend RTL , sometimes supplemented by the broadcasting area (e.g. Guten Abend RTL Hessen ).

As part of a restructuring of the RTL evening program in autumn 2006, the national Guten Abend RTL was discontinued and since then it has been broadcast at 6 p.m. Explosiv - Das Magazin on this square, which is therefore only available with its Sunday edition in areas with regional programs. The regional programs kept the program name until June 2012, since then the programs have had the current names.

reception

The regional magazines can be received in the corresponding broadcasting areas via cable in SDTV and via DVB-T2 in (upscaled) HDTV. The two north program versions for Lower Saxony / Bremen and Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein as well as the west version for North Rhine-Westphalia are available in SDTV across Europe via satellite . The regional program for Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein was only switched back to Astra on February 1, 2017, after it had also been received via satellite until June 4, 2012. At that time, however, it was replaced by the program for North Rhine-Westphalia. RTL Hessen is not available via satellite.

The Bavarian regional program on Saturday can also be received via satellite under the code "RTL Bayern".

The program version for Augsburg is fed into the network of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland in Riesbürg , Baden-Württemberg , although no RTL regional magazine is responsible there.

The program version for Hesse is fed into the Unitymedia network in Reckenroth in Rhineland-Palatinate , although no RTL regional magazine is responsible there.

The program version for North Rhine-Westphalia is fed into the Unitymedia network in the Rhineland-Palatinate towns of Mudersbach and Niederfischbach , although no RTL regional magazine is responsible there.

In the networks of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland in Großkrotzenburg in Hesse and in Lügde in North Rhine-Westphalia , only the program versions for Lower Main in Bavaria and Lower Saxony / Bremen are fed into the network.
