The Landesmedienanstalt Saarland (LMS) is an institution under public law and has its seat in Saarbrücken .
It is a control authority and is responsible for the licensing and control of private radio and television stations as well as their coordination with the public broadcasters. In addition, the promotion of media skills and the supervision of gambling offers on the radio and on the Internet belong to the area of responsibility. Your legal competencies are regulated by the Saarland Media Act and the State Broadcasting Treaty .
The LMS is a member of the working group of the state media authorities ( the media authorities ).

Ruth Meyer was elected director, but she is not yet in office because the current deputy director Jörg Ukrow has made an urgent motion against the election of the state media authority chief. The media council is subdivided into four committees and is responsible for concession matters; it has the authority to issue guidelines and statutes and draws up the business plan. The chairman of the media council is the lawyer Stephan Ory .
