Lower Saxony media award

The Lower Saxony Media Prize has been awarded annually since 1995 by the Lower Saxony State Media Authority (NLM) for outstanding journalistic and creative achievements on radio and, since 2012, on television. Until 2011, the prize was called the Lower Saxony Radio Prize and was renamed the Lower Saxony Media Prize in 2012 . In this way, the NLM would like to recognize, promote and stimulate the media diversity and journalistic quality in broadcasting in Lower Saxony.

Employees of private radio stations that can be received in Lower Saxony, authorized citizens 'radios, internet radios with editorial offices in Lower Saxony and private local, regional and national television broadcasters and licensed citizens' television authorized in Lower Saxony can participate. In addition, students from Lower Saxony have the opportunity to apply with their radio reports published on the Internet. With this, the NLM would like to make a contribution to the promotion of media literacy.

The award ceremony takes place every year in Hanover as part of a festive evening event under the patronage of the Lower Saxony Prime Minister.

The Lower Saxony Media Prize 2019 was endowed with a total of 14,000 EUR. In addition, a sculpture and a certificate were presented. The winners of the two sponsorship awards also received a “media trip” for two people to London at the invitation of BBC World News and, on the other hand, an internship at RTL in Cologne.
