history

Compared to the other 15 nationwide radio projects that have arisen since 1996, whose broadcasting license was legally stipulated for five years, during which they had to prove themselves during a so-called scientific support phase, Radio Ostfriesland only had two years. When the broadcasting licenses were finally awarded for another seven years in 2002, Radio Ostfriesland was also given the license to continue working. The broadcast license was last extended in 2013 and is now provisionally valid until March 31, 2021.

In 2005 Gerd Brandt from Neustadtgödens was awarded the Keerlke Prize for his commitment to the regional language at Radio Ostfriesland .

program

The core of the editorially supervised program is the "morning show" from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., the morning magazine “Radio Ostfriesland bei der Arbeit” from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the midday magazine “Klock 12” (Low German: “12 p.m.”) from 12 a.m. until 1 pm and the evening magazine "5 after 5" at 5 pm. The supraregional news is taken over by NDR Info , and Radio Ostfriesland broadcasts detailed regional news several times a day.

In addition to the program in High German, there are also programs in Low German . The magazine "Klock 12" is broadcast continuously on Platt.
