Coat of arms Klambt

The media Klambt (until 2009: Verlagsgruppe Klambt ) is a German media group . In addition to the media business, the general insurance agency Klambt & Endres also belongs to the company.

In 2017, the group achieved sales of EUR 106.7 million and consolidated net income was EUR 5.9 million. In 2014 it employed around 650 people. The media group is 80 percent owned by the Rose publishing family and 20 percent by the Muscate family.

history

The origin of the group goes back to the magazine Der Hausfreund , which was founded in 1843 in the Silesian town of Neurode by the bookseller Wilhelm Wenzel Klambt. The publishing group therefore describes itself as “one of the oldest German public publishers ”. Klambt founded branches in Hamm and Speyer as early as 1906 .

After the Second World War , the publishing house settled in Speyer, where it still has its administrative and headquarters today. The editorial offices are based in Baden-Baden , Berlin , Hamburg and Speyer .

The house friend for all stands

The appearance of Der Hausfreund in 1843 was a little sensation for the citizens of Neurode and provided a lot to talk about for days and weeks. Church news and classifieds from local merchants were found here. Wilhelm Wenzel Klambt also referred to the city chronicle he wrote. The other pages were filled with reading material. Written coarse and gripping, it corresponded to the taste of the time.

In the course of the 40 years interest in political events grew. W. W. Klambt also took a bold stand on current political issues. His remarks were read attentively by enemy and friend alike. Klambt's voice, and with it that of the family friend, gained weight.

In 1848 the family friend appears in a modern presentation. This has now been published by “W. W. Klambt printing and publishing of the editors ”. In 1944 the publication was stopped by order of the Reich Press Chamber.

Business areas

The KLAMBT media group publishes around 65 different magazines at home and abroad. The offer includes ten program magazines, four of which (Funk Uhr, Bildwoche, TV Neu and die Zwei) were sent to the Funke Mediengruppe as part of antitrust regulations for the takeover of publications from Axel Springer SE . The KLAMBT media group also offers seven weekly women's magazines, Happy Way, Liebes Land, as well as puzzle, hairstyle and food magazines.

At the end of 2018, the Klambt media group will take over a portfolio of six magazines in the women's and health segment from the Jahreszeiten Verlag ( Für Sie , Petra , Vital, Iss' dich heil, Feel good, Dr. Wimmer). The takeover is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.

In addition to several public publishers, the prepress division and a nationwide insurance general agency also belong to the group of companies. In addition, the media group holds stakes in press sales , private radio stations and in Freizeitwoche GmbH & Co. KG .

Litigation

In 2003 the newspaper headlined Die neue Frau with the claim that Victoria of Sweden had received an island as a “love nest” from her father. After a lawsuit by the princess before the Frankenthal regional court, the publisher and the plaintiff's attorney agreed to print a counter-statement on the front page. The paper Week of the Woman , which also belongs to the Klambt publishing group , reported three weeks later about an allegedly imminent love wedding between the princess and Prince Nicholas of Greece. Even the week of the woman denied after the comparison on the front page.

In 2004 the Swedish royal family sued the Klambt publishing group again. It is about 500 cover pictures and 1,558 individual claims; A large part of the incriminated reporting appeared on Die neue Frau . Swedish media reported that the royal family is demanding a total of 4.4 million euros in damages.

In 2005, the Swedish royal family filed another lawsuit against the Klambt publishing group. In July 2009, the Hamburg Higher Regional Court finally awarded the Swedish krona compensation in this case in the amount of 400,000 euros. This was justified with a reporting that was invented over the years and the associated, according to the court, "ruthless" violations of the personal rights of Princess Madeleine . The Federal Court of Justice confirmed the decision in 2011, making it legally binding.
