occupation

Zabou is a German movie from 1987 based on the crime series Tatort . Götz George plays the main role as Duisburg chief inspector Horst Schimanski . After a tooth for a tooth , also with Götz George, it is the second crime scene that was first published as a movie.

action

Schimanski and Thanner surprise Sunflash assistant chef Sandrowski on an old factory site who has just tried to sell addicts new crack . Sandrowski escapes, but is arrested at work by a testimony of one of the addicts. There Schimanski meets Zabou, in whom he recognizes his foster daughter Conny. He had fallen in love with her mother then and been like a father to her. Conny is not well-disposed towards him because he simply left her mother and let her down. Schimanski suspects through Sandrowski that the drugs are smuggled through the Sunflash and distributed.

He promptly pays another visit to the bar and has it searched for drugs. When he finds something himself in the dancers' changing room, everything is clear to him. The local boss Hocks is not at all pleased and tries unsuccessfully to bribe Schimanski's colleague Thanner. In the evening, Schimanski gets an unexpected visit from Conny, who arranges for him to meet Hocks in the pub so that he can talk to him. This turns out to be a trap, and Schimanski is knocked down, drugged and put in Hocks' car by a Spanish thug. With this he drives disoriented through Duisburg and has an accident.

He wakes up in the hospital and Thanner declares him arrested for allegedly murdering Hocks. Schimanski is now being watched by Schäfer. He takes him off guard and escapes from the hospital. He visits Conny and is advised to do further research at the wholesale market that supplies the restaurant. There he is attacked by strangers and a chase begins all the way to the Ruhr . Conny helps him and they both escape to an hour hotel . There she tries to seduce the injured Schimmi. When he wakes up, Conny has disappeared, and Thanner stands in front of him with his gun drawn and disappointed. When a BMW that Schimanski has seen before is standing in front of the door , he tears himself away from the officers and jumps on the car's hood. As a result, the driver loses control and falls into a nearby loading station. He identifies the driver from the bunch of keys as the Spaniard who attacked him in the restaurant. He takes his papers and continues to flee Thanner's men by freight train.

Through Conny he learns that the Sunflash belongs to a company Melting in Wuppertal . He visits Melting at his company headquarters. He gets nervous and suddenly struck down by his business partners. Schimmi can escape with the help of Conny who suddenly appears. He was able to find out from Melting that a new drug delivery is to take place at night in the wholesale market. Schimanski meets Thanner and convinces him to come to the wholesale market.

With police officers on hold, they lie in wait for the truck at the meeting point and learn that the cracked packets are hidden in the fish. But Conny, who now reveals herself as the boss of the gang, lies in wait for them and disarms them. Schimmi should now drive the truck away with her. The truck turned on its side in a cistern and caught fire. Conny flees armed and Schimmi tries to convince her to give up. Thanner tries to hit her but is wounded in the leg by her. Conny shoots himself. Schimmi, disaffected with the injured Thanner, stands by the Rhine. He has learned something again.

background

There is a theatrical version and a TV version, which differ in that the song Joey by Concrete Blonde and the Animals hit We Gotta Get Out Of This Place were added to some scenes of the TV broadcast from 1990 . The theatrical version has either no music or only a short instrumental piece by the Klaus Lage Band in these scenes.

As with Zahn um Zahn , Klaus Lage composed the soundtrack and added the song “Nie wieder Kind”, which can only be heard as an instrumental version. The version with vocals has only appeared on various Lage records. Joe Cocker also sang the song Now That You're Gone used for the opening credits . Even Freddie Mercury participated with the song "Hold On" as a duet with Jo Dare on the soundtrack. The song is played in a scene on the radio. Purple Schulz contributed an English version of his song Four Steps with The Vision .

publication

Zabou was released on December 4th, 2008 in the original theatrical version on EuroVideo.

criticism

"Boring, weakly cast and unimaginative attempt to spread the stories about the TV character into a series in the cinema."
