Hour hotel

An hour hotel is a hotel whose rooms can also be rented by the hour and are often used by lovers or prostitutes for sexual intercourse . There are hourly hotels in most countries around the world; however, their establishment and reputation are closely related to local sexual morals .
Situation in different regions
In Europe , where many young people already have their own apartment and are not dependent on an hourly hotel for meetings with their partner, hourly hotels are frequented primarily by prostitutes and their clients . Therefore, they are usually close to the line of a city. They are also mostly spartan (since they do not have to serve a long stay) and are reputed to be unsanitary .
There are several well-known love hotels in Vienna . At the lower end, the Hotel Bauer, near the belt , ranks as the cheapest hotel in town; at the upper end is the Hotel Orient in the first district , which is furnished in the lush Makart style and has been seen in some films, for example in The Third Man . Parts of John Irving's novel The Hotel New Hampshire also take place in a Viennese hour hotel; the hotel in question no longer functions as an hourly hotel.
In countries outside Europe such as Japan , Argentina , Mexico , Brazil or Thailand , where sexual contact between unmarried people is more socially tolerated, but most of them stay with their parents until the wedding, hourly hotels often offer nice, cozy rooms that are well equipped and furnished in no way inferior to normal hotels. The few hours in the hour hotel are often the only time when young couples can really be alone here, so that they have to be prepared for other "couple activities" in addition to sex, e.g. B. by a large TV, a small kitchen etc.
The Love Hotels in Japan with their karaoke boxes and hot tubs are the most famous and sophisticated version of these couple hotels.
Brazilian “motels”, for example in the São Conrado district of Rio de Janeiro , offer exuberant luxury with a steam sauna, whirlpool, a private terrace that is not visible from the outside with its own swimming pool, anonymous entrance and anonymous room service that comes with a hatch is handled. In Buenos Aires there are hundreds of the "Telo" (from the Lunfardo ) called love hotels in all areas of the city, with everything from simple rooms to luxurious facilities with whirlpools or even swimming pools.
In the USA, on the other hand, the inexpensive motels on the outskirts of cities that are already everywhere are also used as hourly hotels.
Further development of the business model
In January 2008, a “love parking lot” opened in Italy. The founder took up the idea of the hour hotel and with his project “Luna Parking”, for a fee, provides a safe area where young “people make love in the car”. The parking lot is divided into individual cabins, each cabin is equipped with an alarm button, condoms are provided in vending machines. Only by cordoning off the site is a space created in which sexual intercourse in the car is no longer a punishable "obscene act in public".
In Switzerland, the city of Zurich decided in May 2011 to introduce free “sex parking spaces”. If they have reached an agreement with the prostitutes, clients can drive their vehicles into the garage boxes provided by the city.
Hour hotels outside of a sexual context
To larger hubs such as the airport Changi in Singapore , often have no more love hotels, usually with extensive wellness supply are as hot tubs , swimming pool and sauna on offer to travelers as possible available to the waiting time between connecting flights to easily bridged. Since a certain flexibility is required here due to the circumstances, these hotels usually offer an hourly rate. In contrast to the “relevant” hour hotels, which are mostly used for sexual activities, however, those are in the upper price segment and often offer all the comforts of a five-star hotel.
In Russia, especially in eastern parts of the country, hourly bookings as a supplement to a night are not uncommon, as the journey can start and end in the evening, at night or in the morning due to the time zones and shifts. Here it is an adaptation of the business model to the circumstances of the travel modalities.
