action

While ice skating , Schimanski breaks into the lake in a cordoned off area. While Thanner has to save him, he comes across the body of a girl in his hole. The autopsy reveals that the girl died as a result of sexual abuse . A case that visibly gets under Schimanski's skin. The girl is not listed among the missing persons, but her teacher, Ms. von Stein, recognizes the girl in the newspaper. She identifies the girl as Manuela Czermak. Schimanski concludes from this that the girl was not missed because she was thought to be sick or on a school trip.

While Thanner wants to get closer to Frau von Stein, Schimanski visits Manuela's mother, Frau Czermak, and is overrun by her son Markus in the stairwell after he had a tangible argument with his mother. Ms. Czermak has already learned about the death of her daughter from the newspaper and only answers Schimanski's questions in a paralyzed manner. As an explanation for Manuela's absence, she states that she wanted to stay with her friend. Through a neighbor he can find Markus in a toy library , but the boy is silent and hastily leaves the shop. To find out more about Manuela, Thanner invites the teacher to the police's favorite bar, Schimanski appears there by chance and complains about Thanner's lack of support in the case. But Thanner tries to find a trace in old child abuse cases, where they notice a file about Markus in which the boy had reported the youth officer Köglmeier for sexual abuse. Köglmeier, however, dismisses this as defensive behavior because the boy did not want to go to the home.

During another visit to Ms. Czermak, the investigators meet a Mr. Krüger who has been helping her since the death of her husband and who does not understand why Manuela's body has not yet been released. A further search for evidence such as luggage at the place of discovery reveals no trace, and Manuela was not seen on the bus to school. In the home where Markus lives, they can only meet his caregiver Andreas and get the tip that Markus could be hanging around on the street in Vulkanstrasse. When Markus discovers Schimanski, he escapes and hangs him out in the port area. Thanner, disguised as a pedophile , discovers a picture of Manuela in a catalog at a porn dealer , which leads him to the realization that her parents forced their children into prostitution . Shaken up by these criminal excesses, Schimmi picks up Markus and invites him to eat in his apartment. Thanner, however, finds Mrs. Czermak murdered in her apartment. Schimanski leaves Markus alone and, together with Thanner, searches the porn dealer's documents, whereby the investigators find a notebook with the names Köglmeier and Czermak. Suddenly they are informed over the radio that Markus is seriously injured in the hospital. Another questioning of the teacher shows that Manuela was often picked up from school by a man in the Mercedes . A check of the license plate leads to the businessman Krause, who had previously pretended to be Krüger. His questioning by Schimanski and Thanner raises doubts, as they observe that his wife, who is present, looks quite astonished at his answers.

Köglmeier, who suddenly disappeared out of fear, can finally be found with the help of his pregnant wife, and he admits that out of panic he beat Markus to hospital. However, he denies the murders and accuses Krause, who had a pedophile tendency towards Manuela. But Krause is hard to come by, and Schimanski compromises him in his office because of his inclination towards his employees. Fortunately, Markus wakes up from his coma and tells Schimanski about his late father's porn business. Krause really wanted to have Manuela to himself and encountered resistance from father and Markus. Mrs. Czermak was murdered to cover up as a confidante of Krause after Manuela was killed by him. When Schimanski confronts Krause with it, he tries to shoot himself. Hänschen also found out that Markus had killed his father in a fictitious accident. Schimanski, however, leaves the boy unmolested after he has hinted at the crime with a cinematic comparison.

Others

As with other WDR crime scenes, a lot was shot in Munich and the surrounding area, as the producing Bavaria-Film is based there. The lake in which the child is found is the Kirchsee near Sachsenkam south of Munich. In the background you can see the Reutberg monastery .
