Nacozari de García , also Nacozari for short , is a city in the west of the Mexican state of Sonora . The city is located on a river southwest of Cananea at an altitude of about 1100 meters and is the administrative center of the municipality of the same name Nacozari de García . Nacozari de García had 11,193 inhabitants in 2000 and 11,489 inhabitants in 2010.

The mining town of Nacozari de García was founded in 1660 as Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Nacozari and renamed in honor of Jesús García Corona , who saved the town from an explosion in 1907, but had an accident in the process.
