List of architectural monuments in Ederheim
The monuments of the Swabian community of Ederheim are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.
Ensemble monastery and hamlet Christgarten
The ensemble includes the area of the former Carthusian monastery with its trout pond and part of the former hamlet of Christgarten with a forester's house, an inn and a number of three small eaves-side houses, probably former lumberjack houses.
The ruins of the former monastery church are located on the southern edge of the former hamlet, separated from these secular buildings by a stream. The Carthusian monastery , founded in 1383 by Count Ludwig and Friedrich von Oettingen , was built according to the Carthusian rule in a lonely forest valley in the immediate vicinity of a trout stream. The monastery church was built around 1390, the monastery complex was first destroyed by fire and looting in the Schmalkaldic War in 1547, and again by the Swedes in 1632. In 1648 the monastery was finally abolished by the Peace of Westphalia ; from this point on the structures gradually fell into disrepair.
Only parts of the church are preserved: the choir, parts of the ruins of the former nave and the refectory. The ruin against the background of the wooded Kartäusertal, a graceful natural landscape, together with the few houses, gives the impression of seclusion and tranquility, is representative of the typical location of a hermit Charterhouse. The forest and ruins are joined by the water that rises from the spring pot in the west of the former hamlet and unites with the stream coming from the Aufhausen valley to form the trout stream. From the north-east, the overall impression of the ensemble is determined by three architectural elements: by the high, large-area gable of the inn, a steep saddle roof building from the beginning of the 19th century, with an elongated structure along the street, opposite the dense row of three ground-floor small houses on the eaves, built in the middle and end of the 19th century, connected by allotment gardens, the saddle roof over the low entrance and the three small front windows with the shutters, and finally the choir of the church ruins.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
