I Like is a song by American singer Keri Hilson , published shortly after the (early) German launch of Comedy Zweiohrküken on 11 December 2009. He is part of a crossover - marketing strategy , whose first part was very successful in Germany. The song rose to number one in the German single charts.
history
Hilson, who is best known in the USA as the female part of some duets with established singers, was written by the German composers David Jost and Robin Grubert , which also became part of the soundtrack of the German love comedy Zweiohrküken . The accompanying video (directed by Aaron Platt) shows the singer and excerpts from the film. The song immediately hit the German charts and was rewarded with a gold record after just one month after at least 150,000 singles had been sold. The album In a Perfect World ... appeared with the title song as a draft horse and achieved a breakthrough in Germany.
However, the song did not achieve the same success in the USA. He accompanied the theatrical release of Zweiohrküken / Chicken With Two Ears in the UK on March 29, 2010 and later also the theatrical release in the USA. Here the producers promised each other that Keri Hilson's song would stimulate interest in a comedy from Germany with actors unknown there.
Reviews
Ebert Dobler from laut.de says that Keri Hilson is turning "radio-friendly pop ... a little in the direction of R'n'B". Tanja Kraus from CDStarts.de rates the song as a “catchy R&B pearl”.
Chart placements
I Like reached number one in the single charts in Germany and stayed at the top for three weeks, 13 weeks in the top 10 and 41 weeks in the charts. For Hilson this was the fifth chart success in the German single charts and, after The Way I Are and Scream, the third Top 10 success and the first number one hit . In 2010, I Like took second place in the annual charts in the German airplay charts behind Fireflies ( Owl City ) , making it the second most played radio hit of the year. In the annual charts of the German single charts, the single came in ninth.
