Zweiohrküken is a German love comedy by Til Schweiger , in which he also plays one of the leading roles. The film, which was awarded the rating “Valuable” by the German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) , has been in German cinemas since December 3, 2009 and is the continuation of the film Keinohrhasen, also produced by Til Schweiger . The premiere was in Germany on November 24, 2009 in Berlin and in Austria on December 1, 2009 in Vienna. The title Zweiohrküken refers to a stuffed animal sewn by Til Schweiger as the main character.

action

Ludo Decker and Anna Gotzlowski have been living together in a shared apartment for two years. Everyday life has moved in, Ludo neglects his domestic duties, Anna is annoyed. When Ludo's ex-girlfriend Marie reappears at a party and Anna's former boyfriend Ralf, an understanding woman and development worker, moves in with Anna and Ludo for a few days, both get caught in a spiral of self-doubt and jealousy. Anna reads Ludo's SMS , Ludo finds Die Liste , Anna's secret list of previous bed stories in which Ralf gets off far better than himself.

Ludo can no longer stand Ralf's constant provocations and hits him in the face in a restaurant in front of Anna's eyes. Anna and he split up in an argument. In this phase, both end up in bed with their previous partners.

A secondary line tells of Ludo's friend Moritz's desperate attempts to land with women. In his distress, he goes to a flirting school and tries to take the advice of flirting teacher Dr. Eisenberger to put into practice. His knowledge is exhausted in antediluvian macho behavior and stale sayings, so that embarrassing situations pile up for Moritz.

In the end, Ludo and Anna reconcile and get back together.

background

Emergence

The film was shot from May 19 to July 10, 2009 in Berlin, Brandenburg and in the Polish Baltic Sea town of Leba in the Slowinzischen National Park (Łeba / Słowiński Park Narodowy). As with Keinohrhasen , the rose villa in Paretz was used as a day care center for the shoot. Further film recordings were made in the Berlin zoo , among others . The Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg co-financed the film production with a grant of € 900,000.

reception

Although Til Schweiger turned down press screenings before the cinema release and the subsequent reviews were largely devastating, the film was a financial success. 870,000 viewers saw the film in Germany on the opening weekend. With this, Zweiohrküken reached first place in the German cinema charts and the second best start of a German film in 2009. After the second weekend, the film was able to assert itself at the top, but was already in the third week of Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora auf relegated to second place. By week four, the film dropped to third place behind Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 . In Austria, too, Zweiohrküken reached first place in the cinema charts with more than 50,000 moviegoers on the opening weekend, which it held for two weeks. In the third week, like in Germany, he was overtaken by Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora . In Switzerland it was only enough to take second place on the starting weekend, because the number of visitors was a little behind New Moon - Until (s) midday . Only at the end of the first week was New Moon - Bis (s) at noon of Zweiohrküken be overhauled so that it was advancing at No. 1, taking in the third week, as well as in Germany and Austria of Avatar - Pandora has been replaced . A total of 4,255,103 viewers saw the film in Germany. As of August 27, 2010, the film was offered by Warner Home Video on DVD and Blu-ray Disc with FSK-12 approval. In addition to the feature film, the DVD includes an audio commentary by Til Schweiger, outtakes , canceled scenes, a making-of , TV spots, trailers and the music video of the title I Like by Keri Hilson as bonus material .

Others

Til Schweiger had a mobile editing room set up in a bus for the film set in Paretz, as well as another editing room in his house, so that he could use the time for editing during the breaks and in the morning before shooting began. In order to be able to carry out this cutting work promptly, he made particular use of the mobile cutting room, as is also used by Clint Eastwood , which meant that the film crew could partly be shown the first partial results on the following day.

In one scene, Moritz is alone in a woman's apartment. When he notices that the toilet is temporarily out of order, he puts his excrement in a plastic bag, which he promptly forgets in the apartment. The idea and the joke come from the sketch “Surelock: A True Poo Story”, a web clip by Adrian Parks from 2008 (Canadian Comedy award “Best Web Clip” 2008).

According to Schweiger, the scene on the beach towards the end of the film pays homage to Knockin 'on Heaven's Door .

Zweiohrküken was first seen on German free TV on April 6, 2012 at 8.15 p.m. on Sat.1 .

music

A CD with the original music was also released on December 4, 2009 for the film. In addition to one title each from OneRepublic , Paul van Dyk , Michelle Leonard , Stanfour , Pixie Lott and Amy Macdonald, there are many titles from Dirk Reichardt. Also included is the title song "I Like", interpreted by singer Keri Hilson and released as a single on December 11, 2009, which reached number 1 in the German single charts and number 4 in Austria. In addition to “I Like”, other songs from the soundtrack also made it into the charts, for example “Secrets” by OneRepublic made it to number 3 in Germany and position 4 in Austria. Songs like " This Is The Life " (Amy Macdonald) or "Broken" ( Livingston ) were able to position themselves in the charts long before the film was released, but are still listed in the table below because they are on the soundtrack are found. The song "Immortal" by Baschi is not included on the soundtrack, but film excerpts can still be seen in the video, which is why it is also listed in the table below. Like the movie poster, the CD cover also shows the same motif as that of the previous soundtrack by Keinohrhasen .

marketing

As in the film Keinohrhasen , there was again a plush toy, this time the two-eared chick, to the film. A picture book written by Klaus Baumgart and Til Schweiger was published under the title Keinohrhase und Zweiohrküken ( ISBN 978-3833901935 ). When the film started on December 3, 2009, Zweiohrküken: The book about the film ( ISBN 978-3548282435 ) by Anika Decker and Til Schweiger, which contains the original script with additional information and photos about the shooting as well as information about Keinohrhasen , was available in stores. In addition, clothes, pillows and other items were offered. On November 3, 2009, exactly one month before the film started, a free mini-game was also published in the AppStore for the iPhone and iPod Touch .

reception

Critics were not allowed in the pre-screenings of the film. There were also no separate press screenings before the film started, although the Association of German Film Critics protested in writing.

  • Positive reviews
    • The Hamburger Abendblatt praised the director Schweiger for the “mixture of a lot of music and pointed man-woman dialogues that sound familiar to couples” , but criticized the sometimes appropriate “toilet humor” .
    • The Munich TZ judged: "Gag follows gag - even if sometimes the level at which people laugh slips and the narrative ease that made the charm of the first part fade."
    • Rheinische Post believed in the success of two-eared chicks "because of great attention to detail in pictures, light and music" and praised the "cast, which is almost perfect, [...] even if the story may be silly or thin" .
  • Neutral reviews
    • critic.de criticized the film because it lacks " verve " , but said appreciatively: "In the end, what is most striking about two-eared chicks is the radical perseverance with which Til Schweiger tries to serve every taste."
    • The Tagesspiegel commented: “The anarchic charm that shaped the quite unusual“ no-ear bunnies ”has given way to mostly coarse humor. [...] With so much clothing clutter , the sometimes almost Lori-like sparkling dialogues that tell of our lazy, lurking, utterly mendacious gender relations are almost lost . "
    • The Berliner Morgenpost said: “With all the woodcut, it must be added that the“ two - eared chick ”rises above the arid plains of Mario Barth humor. [...] Despite some successful dialogues, the film is too long, often treads on the spot, has poor plot points and has guest star appearances by Heiner Lauterbach and Uwe Ochsenknecht, which compared to Jürgen Vogel's spectacular "no-ear bunny" use are rather lame. "
    • gamona.de said: “Zweiohrküken is German mainstream cinema with a guarantee of success, but without surprises. […] What does it matter that the film is way too long, bristling with clichés and resorting to slapstick decals more than once? "
  • Negative reviews
    • The newspaper Der Standard noticed the "upright sweaty" situation comedy "between a couple [...] who got caught up in relationship routines and therefore flirted with former partners" negatively.
    • Der Spiegel rated the film as “macho clothes with yesterday's gender image and incredibly awkward joke” .
    • The Süddeutsche Zeitung suspected that "pup and penis jokes under eggshell-colored protective covers" allow conclusions to be drawn about "the heart of its maker" .
    • The star calls Til Schweiger's “macho joke” flat and his “acting skills limited” .
    • The film service considered Zweiohrküken to be "hasty, inconsistent or absurd [...] cobbled together" and criticized "a makeshift, 'funny' 'camouflaged reactionary-infantile attitude, the success of which is actually cause for concern among the audience."
