Pegah Ferydoni ( Persian پگاه فریدونی; * June 25, 1983 in Tehran , Iran ) is a German actress and voice actress of Iranian origin. She is also the singer and front woman of the band Shanghai Electric, which was founded in 2002.

Pegah Ferydoni comes from an Iranian family of artists. When she was two years old, her parents fled the Khomeni regime with her to Germany . Her father has Georgian ancestors, her mother's ancestors come from Azerbaijan . She spent her childhood and youth in Berlin-Reinickendorf . She studied philosophy for three semesters at the University of Potsdam after playing her first role in the short film Skiing Under Water at the age of 17 . As an autodidact who never attended drama school, Ferydoni managed to become known as an actress to a wider audience in the mid-2000s. Your first feature-length film, Episode der Feder! ran at international film festivals and won the audience award of the Mannheim-Heidelberg Film Festival in 2004 . For her role as Yağmur Öztürk in the successful series Turkish for Beginners , Ferydoni finally won the German Television Award in 2006 in the category Best Series / Best Actor Series (together with her ensemble colleagues Josefine Preuß , Anna Stieblich , Adnan Maral , Elyas M'Barek , Emil Reinke and Axel Schreiber ) and in 2007 the Adolf Grimme Prize in the entertainment category (together with headwriter Bora Drachtkin , directors Edzard Onneken and Oliver Schmitz and their ensemble colleagues).

On German television she was seen in series such as SOKO 5113 as well as in the Tatort and Kommissarin Lucas series.

In 2009 she played a role in the revolutionary drama Women Without Men by the Iranian artist Shirin Neshat . The film was released in German cinemas in 2010.

From May 2011 to the beginning of 2013 she moderated the young culture magazine zdf.kulturpalast and the “Berlinale-Studio” in the rbb every week . On October 4, 2018, the film The Defective Cat started in German cinemas, in which she plays the leading role.

Since 2019 she has been playing the role of criminal investigator Sarah Khan in the series SOKO Hamburg .
