Dolev

Dolev ( Hebrew : דולב) is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank . The community settlement was founded in 1983 and belongs to the Mateh Benjamin regional administration .

The international community, like all Israeli settlements in the territories occupied since 1967, regards Dolev as illegal under international law. Israel denies this.

The place is named after the oriental plane tree .

location

Dolev is located east of the Israeli barrier in the West Bank, around 6 kilometers northwest of Ramallah and 11 kilometers east of Modi'in . Immediately north of Dolev is the Israeli settlement of Talmon; adjacent to the settlement are the Palestinian villages of Ein Qiniya , Dayr Ibzi and Janiya .

history

The settlement was founded in 1983. It was built on land, which, according to the Palestinian NGO Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem (ARIJ) , was confiscated from the neighboring villages of Ein Qiniya , Dayr Ibzi and Janiya .

Israeli settlers brought the Ein Bubin spring near Dayr Ibzi under their control for irrigation projects. The spring became a popular destination for Israelis.

On June 19, 2015, 25-year-old Israeli Danny Gonen was shot dead by a Palestinian while he was on his way back from the source with a friend. They were stopped by a Palestinian who appeared to be asking for help. Then he shot her at close range. The assassin was arrested on July 15, 2015. A group claimed responsibility for the attack and alleged links to the terrorist organization Hamas .

On August 23, 2019, 17-year-old Rina Schnerb was killed in a bomb explosion at the source. Her father and brother were seriously injured.

On August 26, 2019, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the planning committee at its next meeting to submit plans for approval to build a new neighborhood in Dolev, near the Ein Bubin spring. The new quarter will include around 300 new residential units and will be named after Rina Shnerb.

On February 6th, shots were fired at a group of soldiers near the Dolev settlement, one of the soldiers was slightly injured.
