Bridgehead server

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A bridgehead server or bridgehead server , also known as bridgehead (bridgehead server) in German, refers to servers that are responsible for site-to-site replication . This can be, for example, an e-mail or Active Directory server .

Procedure

Replication data that is sent from a remote network to a local network is first sent to the local bridgehead server, which in turn is responsible for further distribution to the local server. This avoids unnecessary data traffic between the locations.
