Mateh Benjamin ( Hebrew מועצה אזורית מטה בנימין, Mo'atza Azorit Mateh Binyamin ) is an Israeli regional administration in the southern Samaria mountain country. It is named after one of the twelve tribes of Israel , the tribe of Benjamin . The seat of the administration is in Psagot.

Mateh Benjamin is located in the central West Bank, north of Jerusalem and west of the Jordan .
history
During the Six Day War of 1967, Israel occupied what is now the regional administration. Most of the Israeli settlements were established in the 1970s. In 1979 a separate administrative unit was established for them.
The 45-year-old Tzion Ohana from Gewa Binjamin, or Adam, was found dead on December 28, 2001. The man was abducted by Palestinians and subsequently murdered.
Since 2008, the following settlements have been on the western, Israeli side of the barrier :
- In the Modi'in block: Khashmonayim, Matitjahu, Na'ale and Nili
- In the Latrun area: Mevo Choron, Bet Choron
- Northwest of Jerusalem : Giw'on HaChadascha
- In the area of Adumim, east of Jerusalem: Almon and Kfar Adumim
The remaining settlements are scattered between the Palestinian territories.
On June 19, 2015, 25-year-old Israeli Danny Gonen was murdered after taking a trip with a friend to the Ein Buvin spring in the West Bank. The source is located in a mountainous region between the village of Dolev and the Palestinian village of Dayr Ibzi. On the way back they were stopped by a Palestinian who appeared to be asking for help. Then he shot her at close range. A group close to Hamas assumed responsibility for the attack . The assassin was arrested on July 15, 2015.
On July 21, 2017, three members of a family in Chalamish were murdered by a Palestinian terrorist. The family had come together to celebrate the birth of a child. The assassin first murdered 46-year-old Chaya Salomon. Then he stabbed her 68-year-old mother Tova Salomon, who survived seriously injured. Then he killed the 36-year-old Elad Salomon. He stabbed Josef Salomon 15 times until the 70-year-old stopped moving. An off-duty soldier who was in the neighboring house wounded the attacker. the assassin was sentenced to three life sentences in February 2018.
On July 26, 2018, a 17-year-old Palestinian stabbed a 31-year-old family man in Gewa Binjamin, or Adam, and wounded two other Israelis.
On December 9, 2018 , seven Israelis, including a pregnant woman, were wounded in an attack in Ofra . Because of internal injuries and bleeding, the doctors performed an emergency birth of the 30-week-old fetus. On December 12th the baby, a boy, died. In another attack on the morning of December 13, two soldiers were killed and two civilians were seriously injured. The assassin got out of a car at the Giv'at Assaf outpost near the Ofra settlement and opened fire on a group of people at a bus stop.
In a terrorist attack near the Dolev settlement on August 23, 2019, 17-year-old Rina Schnerb was killed by an explosive device, her father Eitan, a 46-year-old rabbi and her 19-year-old brother Dvir were seriously wounded.
