Amy Macdonald
Amy Elizabeth Macdonald (born August 25, 1987 in Bishopbriggs ) is a British singer-songwriter .
life and career
MacDonald was in 1987 in the Scottish born Bishopbriggs. At the age of twelve she began to play acoustic guitar - influenced by the rock band Travis , among others . She describes a performance by Pete Doherty in Glasgow as a key experience for her career . In July 2007, the autodidact was ranked 12th in the UK Top 40 with the title Mr Rock & Roll . In autumn 2007 she accompanied Paul Weller on his Germany tour. With her debut album This Is the Life she reached number 1 on the UK charts in early 2008 and went triple platinum . The single of the same name was successful across Europe .
The recordings for the second album A Curious Thing took place in Paul Weller's Black Barn Studio. The album was released in March 2010; the single Don't Tell Me That It's Over was released at the end of February 2010. The album debuted at first place in the German, Austrian, Swiss and European album charts and reached gold status in Germany before it even entered the charts . In Switzerland and Germany the album received a platinum award . Together with her band and the orchestra of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern , Macdonald gave a concert in October 2010 in the Luxembourg Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette , where she played tracks from her two previous albums in orchestral version. This resulted in the live album A Curious Thing Special Orchestral Edition .
In June 2012 her third album Life in a Beautiful Light was released ; there were Slow It Down , Pride and 4th of July decoupled. On December 1, 2012, Macdonald suffered a breakdown in a hotel in Zurich and was subsequently treated in a Swiss hospital. The other tour dates for 2012 were then postponed. Macdonald was engaged to former soccer player Steve Lovell from 2008 to 2012 . In May 2018 she married the Scottish soccer player Richard Foster in Las Vegas .
She performed at the 2012 FIFA Awards ceremony and sang the unofficial national anthem, The Flower of Scotland , several times for Scotland's internationals . She is a supporter of the Glasgow Rangers . She also addressed the latter in the songs Pride and The Green and the Blue .
In November 2016, Macdonald announced their fourth studio album Under Stars and released the single Down by the Water , which was only available for pre-orders of the album, which was finally released in February 2017. In March 2017 she played several concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland and England, sometimes with Newton Faulkner as a guest musician. In December 2017, she released her first Christmas song, This Christmas Day, and the accompanying video. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the single will go to British Alzheimer's research.
In 2018 Macdonald contributed a title for the comedy Patrick (directed by Mandie Fletcher). At the end of the year, Woman of the World (The Best of 2007-2018) was their first best-of album. A European tour with the album followed from March to April 2019 .
