Better Than Ezra is an alternative rock band from New Orleans ( USA ). The band was formed in 1988 by Kevin Griffin while he and the other band members were studying at Louisiana State University .
Band history
Better Than Ezra made their unofficial debut in 1988 with the demo tape "Chimes Street Demo". Two years later, "Surprise" followed in 1990, the first official album. After guitarist Joel Rundell died by suicide in August of the same year, the remaining band members took a break and reunited as a trio in late 1990. The band had a surprise success three years later with the album Deluxe and the single Good that was released from it . After tension with the rest of the band, drummer Cary Bonnecaze left Better Than Ezra and was replaced by Travis McNabb. On the following albums, which had a significantly better production than Deluxe , the band brought some experimental pieces into their repertoire, but after that the popularity dropped so significantly that the band went to How Does Your Garden Grow? was kicked out by her record company and has not had any European distribution since the successor Closer . The last two albums brought a slight increase in success in the USA without returning to the wedding of Deluxe . At the same time, the band gave up on too big experiments and again offered a consistent style with their college skirt.
In February 2009 drummer Travis McNabb left the band to devote himself to other projects. He was replaced by Michael Jerome, who joined Better than Ezra from the band Pleasure Club .
